It has a very lightweight design packed with amazing capabilities. Even the built-in auxiliary cable has its very own space to nestle in when not in use. The device is small, portable, simple and user-friendly. The buttons and ports are placed on the outer rim. You can also attach a separate clip to the top of the speaker to hang the JBL micro wireless Bluetooth speaker with your bag or belt.

For its size, the JBL micro wireless Bluetooth has a pretty impressive and decent sound quality. The size is compact and fits in your palm comfortably. It performs well, and the sound quality is crisp and clear. We didn’t expect it to produce the sound quality like the bigger portable speakers UE Boom or Fugoo Style either. We tested the JBL micro by enabling the Bluetooth on the laptop and placing it close. This speaker was impressive at midrange. The sound it delivers is striking.

The JBL Micro portable speaker also has a bass port. The bass is loud if you play bass-intensive songs. According to its small size, the bass performance is good. At even mid volume, the sound was very clear with a bass that responded well. Though if you increase its volume to max, then the sound and bass would distort.  It is a nice device to keep in your car and play audiobooks on.

The JBL Micro Bluetooth has a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery. You can charge it with an included Micro-USB cable. It has 5 hours of playback time. That’s not good, but it is great if the speakers are so small. It also has an LED indicator. According to the JBL micro wireless manual, the LED indicator lets you know when the battery is low. Indeed this is a useful feature.

It can connect wirelessly to any Bluetooth device. It can also connect to headphone jacks on other audio gadgets like the MP3 player; using its built-in cable which is 3.5 mm. Connecting devices via Bluetooth was really easy and fast. When the Bluetooth is active, it has a blue LED light on the speaker side. It efficiently searches the devices indicating you by the flickering of light. The light gets stable when the connection is established.

JBL Clip 2 Speaker- Build and design

The all-plastic covering and grill have been replaced entirely with new things. The grill of Clip 2 JBL has the fabric covering making it a waterproof design. Even the housing has a smooth rubberized plastic. On the left side, you’ll find volume buttons, as well as a call button. The right side has the power button and Bluetooth pairing button which you need to use while pairing only.

Under a small flap of the JBL Clip, 2 is the micro USB port for charging, and the edges of the speaker are the built-in cable. But the most improved part is the new carabiner clip, it is a small piece of plastic with a hinge. The carabiner can clip to your bag which makes it perfect for hiking. It’s made of metal and feels like as solid as it looks.

JBL Clip 2- Connection

Though the JBL Clip 2 does have a 3.5mm built-in audio cable, I never used it during testing. The connection isn’t that strong but if it’s clipped to a bag or somewhere nearby one shouldn’t have an issue. One thing that makes JBL Clip 2 better than any other product is that it connects instantly every time after turning on. After pairing it for the first time, one would not get bothered with Bluetooth settings which is a big plus in JBL Clip 2.

JBL Clip 2- Battery Life

The Battery life of JBL Clip 2 is probably the most significant upgrade. With most of the speakers in the market, 5 or 6 hours of battery life is considered average, but JBL claims that the JBL Clip 2 speakers have 8 hours of constant playback battery life. That extra bump in battery makes CLI 2 JBL speaker way easier to recommend since it plays almost an entire day. But still, don’t expect more than 4 – 5 hours if playing at maximum volume.

JBL Clip 2- Sound Quality

Our expectations when it comes to a JBL Clip 2 speaker which is too small should be curved. Still, the JBL Clip 2 speakers are no doubt impressive. I did most of my testing wirelessly using the audio cable to make sure it works as I expected. Though the JBL Clip 2 is not a great sounding speaker in any frequency range, somehow all together it works. The JBL Clip 2 sounds good enough that you can enjoy your favorite music, I would suggest don’t expect anything more than that.

JBL Go vs. JBL Clip 2

If I compare JBL Go VS JBL Clip 2, JBL Clip 2 is an improvement over the JBL Go in every way that matters. There isn’t any reason not to pick up JBL Clip 2 if you’re looking for an inexpensive speaker.

JBL Flip 3 – Design

First, we will give JBL flip three reviews of its design. There are tons of tube-shaped and portable Bluetooth speakers in the stores out there. But JBL flip 3 design is sleek, simple and safe to hold. It has rubber seal making it splash proof, covered by a smooth black trim and a speaker mesh.  As compared to the previous versions of JBL flip 3 speakers, this one has got a major design upgrade, and it looks great. The Flip 3 is 6.7 x 2.5-inch cylinder with angled finishes, surrounded by a net fabric. Inside the JBL Flip speakers are two 1.5-inch drivers that produce the sound. The bass radiator covers the ends, which is a very good idea borrowed from JBL’s larger Charge 2+.

The JBL Bass radiators add a significant visual element as in comparison to other speakers in the market. We tested the speakers with music genres of the full range, and it was pretty cool the wayside radiators were pumping as the music was flowing through them.

The Flip 3 comes in a bunch of colors: red, pink, yellow, orange, teal, grey, black and blue. The speakers are full in one color, except for the end-caps. The Flip 3 has controls for speakerphone, volume, and Bluetooth-pairing on the speaker, but it’s a big hassle to access them because they are at the back of the unit. The controls color is also like the fabric, causing them to blend in. There is also a power button and battery indicator. The speaker has a latch keeping the water out. It also protects the micro USB connector and 3.5-mm input for the wired connections.

JBL Flip3 – Speakerphone

 

In JBL Flip 3 review, JBL produced a better sound via the speakerphone as compared to the other portable Bluetooth speakers. The voices of the people we talked to sounded pretty full and they couldn’t tell that we were talking through the microphone built in the Bluetooth speaker. They also said that we sounded better than iPhone’s speakerphone. The call quality of JBL Flip is great.

JBL Flip 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker – Connectivity

The most important feature of the portable speakers is the connectivity. With Bluetooth, you are usually a bit limited, but Flip 3 uses Bluetooth 4.1 which has a 30 meters standard range. Along with Bluetooth, JBL Flip 3 also has a connect feature. This feature allows two speakers to connect together or with any other compatible JBL predecessor for higher sound. Although this app is not much required yet, it adds cool features to JBL Flip 3 Bluetooth speaker.

JBL Flip 3 Bluetooth Speaker – Battery Life

One of the biggest issues that plague portable devices is the lack of battery. Here we will give JBL flip 3 reviews of its battery life. JBL Flip 3 claims an improved battery life up to 10 hours on full charge. However listening music for about 10 hours at a moderate volume, we still had more than half battery left. Flip 3 takes about three and a half hours to get recharged completely. Though we found that leaving it on the charger for only 10 minutes gave us enough juice to use it for one more hour, which is good if you don’t have enough time to charge. UE Boom 2 claims a much better battery life of about 15 hours. While testing, we found it to work until 12 hours only. Still, it is better than 10 hours of Flip 3.

Both speakers tell you about how much battery life is there. The JBL Flip 3 has five indicator lights on the back which is a good feature in comparison with other speakers, but UE Boom 2 wins the game here. UE Boom 2 has an audible readout of the battery level. All you have to do is hold the + and –buttons, and the voice will tell you how much battery is left.

JBL Flip 3 Splash Proof  Portable Bluetooth Speaker – Sound quality

The JBL Flip 2 was among our favorite speakers since a long time because of its excellent sound quality and also its low price. We were curious to check out the flip three sound quality and write a JBL flip three review also.  It holds up to its ancestors, and we weren’t surprised about that this one looks very good too.

The JBL Flip 3 has significantly improved regarding sound quality as compared to its previous generations like JBL clip speaker and is a perfect competitor of $100 Bluetooth speakers. You can read about the JBL clip speaker here: JBL clip Bluetooth Speaker review. Each driver is 8 watts. This JBL flip 3 has decent power for a small speaker. We measured around 90 decibels at maximum volume, but at that level, it distorted very badly. The speaker sounded pretty good at 85 decibels, which is good enough sound to fill a room.

At low volume, the sound is full for JBL flip 3 splash-proof wireless Bluetooth speaker of this size. It can be felt if you put it on a table and allow the external bass radiators to work. The mids were a little forward and good enough to hear the guitars and vocals of the singers which is a good experience indeed. The background synths were a little muddy but weren’t a big issue or annoying. When sound is turned up high at maximum, it gets a little harsh. It is perfect if you keep it slightly under the maximum volume.

The JBL Flip 3 is the new hyped portable Bluetooth speaker which is splash proof and is designed to be used both vertically and horizontally. JBL has outdone themselves with both the built and design by introducing the new Flip 3 JBL. The speaker can be easily paired with Android and iOS devices. You will also get JBL flip 3 manual with the Bluetooth speakers.

The mids were a little forward and good enough to hear the guitars and vocals of the singers which is a good experience indeed. It is perfect if you keep it slightly under the maximum volume.

Since JBL Clip was released inexpensive Bluetooth speakers, have become available in the market, but none match the JBL Clip plus combination of features, price and the quality of sound. The JBL Clip Plus keeps one step ahead by slightly improving sound and adding a vital ingredient that is water resistance.

The JBL clip plus can withstand a splash of water through it shouldn’t be submerged. It functioned just fine after it was sprayed with water. This added protection makes it a better choice in all Bluetooth speakers for taking everywhere. Unfortunately, JBL clip + has not okay battery life, the one issue that remains with the speakers.

JBL Clip + Bluetooth speaker- Quality of the Speakerphone

Rounding out the features, the JBL Clip plus includes a speakerphone also. Indeed the feature is nice-to-have and gives ease in hearing people who are at the other end of the call. However, trying out the JBL clip speaker, we found the voice to come across muffled to others on call. The Clip’s speakerphone is not even clear and crisp in comparison with other expensive portable Bluetooth speakers.

JBL states that you can listen to music for 5 hours on a full charge and found that they are right.  We ran a few tests; in one test the JBL clip speaker last for 6 hours whereas once it ran out of battery only after 4 hours. Either way that is indeed not a lot of time to go without the need of charging.
Other ultraportable Bluetooth speakers like Boom Swimmer offers battery life of about 8 hours. Other Bluetooth speaker, Pocket Kick claims 10 hours of battery, if it fully charged. There is a blue light at the front of the speaker clip which changes to red light if the battery level is low. When the red light gets on, after that you have about 15-20 minutes more to use it, before the power runs out entirely. You can charge the clip battery using the Micro USB connection.
